In 2023, a devastating earthquake struck Herat province, impacting an estimated 114,000 people, with 94,000 requiring urgent assistance. The disaster destroyed homes and critical infrastructure, severely limiting access to food, sanitation, and healthcare. Affected people reported feeling unsafe and lacked essential services like mental health support and protection. H-WHO provided critical health and nutrition services, psychosocial support, trauma care, and child protection interventions through 3 mobile health team supported by national and international traders. This response aimed at meeting immediate needs while preparing for winter by distributing shelters, warm clothing, blankets, and heating materials.
