On August 31, 2025, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Afghanistan, severely affecting Kunar province, especially Nurgal district. The event caused massive destruction, casualties, and further infrastructure damage amid intense flash flooding. The H-WHO responded promptly by mobilizing local resources through local volunteers supporting rescue and relief efforts and donating blood. Specialized rehabilitation and mental health teams prepared to provide physical rehab, mobility aids, psychological first aid, and support services for vulnerable groups including children and people with disabilities. The response including shelter, healthcare, food, and psychosocial support amplified by access challenges due to damaged roads and communication blackouts.
